3/19/08 SHARKS 4, minnesota 3

Even when they win the shootouts, I hate 'em.

Ok, I lied. But I still don't like 'em.

Oh, and PLAYOFFS!!! (the Sharks officially clinched with the win)

Curtis Brown made his comeback noticeable, scoring a goal and adding an assist. Jeremy Roenick also had a pair of points, and Joe Pavelski added a goal as well. Evgeni Nabokov made 24 saves for the victory.

Even though the Sharks blew two 3rd period leads, they still came out on top, which is something they probably wouldn't have been able to do earlier in the year. The win is their 2nd straight, and 14th consecutive game with a point. Since losing 5 straight way back in mid-February, the Sharks have gone 13-0-1, amassing 27 points in that time, and skyrocketing from 6th in the West and 3rd in the Pacific to 2nd in the West and 1st in the Pacific.

Well folks, here it is. Tonight is the showdown, the Melee in San Jose, the Yank at the Tank. NorCal vs SoCal, 1st place vs 2nd place, the challengers vs the champions.

Tonight comes when we find out just how good a chance the Sharks have of going anywhere, when they host the Anaheim Ducks (7:30). Anaheim comes to town winners of their last 3, trailing the Sharks for 1st in the division by 5 points, having played one more than the Teal. The Ducks lead the series 5-1, taking 2 of 3 in Anaheim (3-2 SO on 11/9 and 4-3 OT on 1/13) and all 3 played in San Jose (2-1 SO on 11/17, 2-0 on 12/18, and 5-2 on 12/22). The lone Sharks win came on 12/16 with a 2-1 SO win.

GO SHARKS (3?)
